The Salvation Army of Western PA
The Salvation Army aims to ensure all children have the opportunity to learn and prosper in a safe, compassionate environment. Our programs are designed to address the needs of youth where they live. As a result, we not only strengthen kids for a healthy future, but we also strengthen their families. Funds raised through the Most Amazing Race supports Salvation Army children and youth programs and services, such as:
Afterschool Programs
- Gym recreation
- Arts and crafts
- Reading programs
- Music instruction
- Homework tutoring
Organized Clubs and Scouting
- Sunday School
Offered at all corps community centers in Allegheny County.
- Sunbeams
For girls ages 6-11; recreational and educational program teaching a wide assortment of skills with a particular focus on leadership and service (similar to the Girl Scouts of America’s Brownies).
- Girl Guards
For girls ages 12-17; recreational and educational program teaching a wide assortment of skills with particular focus on leadership and service (similar to the Girl Scouts of America).
- Boys Adventure
For boys ages 6-11; educational and recreational program teaching a wide assortment of skills with particular focus on leadership and service (similar to the Boy Scouts of America).
